JO-BRO FANS NEED SWIFT CONVERSION

“Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience” on Demand:
$4.99 plus tax.
3D glasses: Free. But a serious inconvenience to schlep to Comcast to pick up said glasses.
Watching the movie with my 9-year-old niece?
The answer is supposed to be “priceless.”
Not true.
My answer is “not worth it.”
Although my niece, Breanna, was actually panting with excitement when uber loser Joe Jonas appeared on my high def flat screen, I was not impressed.
It’s bad enough that I had to endure their awful “music,” let alone having them “jump” into my living room for two hours.
The film was a diary of the 208 Jonas Brothers “Burning Up” concert tour, and it failed hilariously at the box office.
Tweens and teens don’t read reviews or listen to critics.
They are unfailing loyal, as evidenced by the bazillions of high pitch screeches and wailing emitted whenever and wherever there’s a Jo-Bro sighting.
I felt for the poor parents who were dragged to the recent concert in Philadelphia.
The tickets ran around $50.
I’m sure they had to buy Jo-Bro paraphenalia for their hysterical kids.
And I’m hoping they had the foresight to purchase ear plugs, because I swear I heard the screaming in the suburbs.
The movie is described on IMDB.com as “an eye-popping look into the lives of the Grammy-nominated hitmakers. Filmed in Disney Digital 3-D, the Walt Disney Pictures rockumentary allows the viewer to experience the thrill of being surrounded by legions of screaming fans, and features the previously unreleased song “Love Is on Its Way.
“The Jonas Brothers head to the big screen in Disney Digital 3-D in a high-energy Walt Disney Pictures rockumentary feature film event from director Bruce Hendricks. The film blends excerpts from the Brothers red-hot “Burning Up” concert tour, including guest performances from Demi Lovato and Taylor Swift, with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, off-the-wall segments, a never-before-heard song, swarming fans and a lot of JB-style humorgiving fans never-before-seen insights into the lives of Kevin, Joe and Nick.”
Humor?
I was certainly giggling, but it was “at” the three dorks who had the nerve to put out a feature film.
The one highlight was a guest performance from Joe’s ex, Taylor Swift. And my niece noticed the country cutie.
“Who’s that?” Breanna asked.
“That’s Taylor Swift,” I replied.
“She rocks! She’s really pretty,” Breanna admired.
Which showed that something good DID come from this tortuous experience.
My niece discovered Swift, and asked me to download her songs from iTunes.
Which I did.
But only after we struck a bargain.
In exchange for me purchasing Taylor’s tunes, Breanna had to allow me to erase her Jonas collection from her iPod.
She eyed me suspiciously.
“Um, all of them?” she asked warily.
“Yes.”
“Can I at least keep the new one?”
I pick my battles carefully, so I went with the lesser evil.
One Jonas Brothers song and a library of Taylor Swift is indeed better than no Taylor Swift and an overload of Jonas crap.
“Deal.”
Taylor Swift collection on iTunes?
$27.
Listening to my niece belting out “Love Story?”
Priceless.

KATE FINDS LUXURY IN MD.

Look out Maryland … Kate Gosselin is movin’ on up.
The mom of eight is buying a luxury condo in Rockville, a posh part of Montgomery County, Md.
RadarOnline.com reported that “Kate will live in the new condo, which is located in Rockville Town Square, when she’s not sharing parenting duties for her eight kids with her soon-to-be ex-husband, Jon.”
So while the kids remain in their Wernersville home, the other takes off to their individual sleazy single dwelling.
According to Google Maps, the distance is 81 miles from Wernersville to her new pad.
That’s quite a distance to travel if an emergency should arise.
“Where’s mommy?”
“Sorry, she’s a few states over. Ask Daddy.”
Bodyguard and alleged lover Steve Neild’s office is right around the corner.
Coincidence?
It’s unlikely she needs protection that badly that she has to reside two miles from her bodyguard and his wife.
And last time I checked, New York or L.A. are the hot spots for her many business ventures.
Although the Discovery Channel offices, parent company to TLC, are located in Maryland, I don’t see how that figures in to the move.
Unless Kate’s PR team have some damage control plans in the works, as they need to rebuild her image and viewership for the show’s return in August.
All of her other projects are on hold or dead in the water, so “Jon and Kate Plus 8″ is all she’s banking on at this point.
And bank they will need, with all their new housing additions.
Maybe she and Jon should put off buying swanky apartments in Maryland and Manhattan until they see how the divorce shakes out.
Just a thought.

BIG BAD JON

By MOLLY DAVIS
This week, I am officially back on team Jon.
I’m glad octodad Gosselin is finally getting his well-deserved “peace of mind.”
After dealing with that highlighted, reverse mulleted, screeching Kate, he’s earned some “me” time.
In the wake of dealing with such a mean spirited wife, he just wants affection that he was not getting at home.
Although his recent rendezvous’ have short lived written all over them, I hope he’s having fun.
Twenty-somethings probably don’t want to be a stepmom to eight kids — I know I wouldn’t.
They have better options.
But at least these women seem to genuinely appreciate his company.
And I don’t really care if Jon is after “peace of mind” or a difference kind of “piece.”
Peace or piece, Jonnie boy is justified.
I don’t care if he has a harem of Ed Hardy wearing, pot smoking twenty-something girls parading behind him like he’s the pied piper of Pennsylvania.
So far, his groupies consist of 22-year-old Hailey Glassman and 26-year-old tabloid reported Kate Major.
Although he denies the latter, reportedly “furious” over rumors he’s romantically involved with her, Jon and his new Kate spent time together at the Hamptons.
And he said this : “I care about Kate Major, she resigned from her job for me.”
Mixed messages aside, I’m still on his team.
His one decision I disagree with?
Befriending attention seeking hot mess Michael Lohan — father of Lindsay.
Jon stayed at Mr. Lohan’s pad in the Hamptons, and Lilo’s dad issued a statement to People.com, saying “He’s fantastic and upbeat and said that he just wanted to concentrate on his kids and his career and his life.”
“He’s not with either one right now,” Lohan said of Glassman and Major. “He’s not concentrating on a relationship with any woman.”
Jon, please pick another wingman.
The jury is still out whether or not you exploit your kids, but the verdict is back for Lohan, who writes a blog and tweets about his troubled daughter’s personal life.
You need to be associated with that creep like you need your ex screaming at you all over again.
And if you start twittering, I’m switching back to team Kate.

NO CLIFF-HANGER: PHILS ARE BETTER WITH LEE

Filed under: ERIC FISHER — Administrator @ 11:20 am

By ERIC FISHER
Remember the not-too-distant “bad old days” when the Phillies would invariably acquire a mediocre middle reliever or two at the trade deadline?
Those days are over. As the acquisition of left-handed starter Cliff Lee demonstrates, the “new” Phillies are willing to do what it takes to win championships.
All right, they didn’t get their No. 1 target. But once they determined the asking price for Toronto ace Roy Halladay was too high, the Phillies turned to their No. 2 target: Cliff Lee.
Lee isn’t Halladay, but he isn’t chopped liver. Lee won the American League Cy Young Award last season with a remarkable 22-3 record while pitching for the average-at-best Cleveland Indians.
The Phillies acquired Lee, along with outfielder Ben Francisco, who provides a needed right-handed bat off the bench, without giving up any of the top prospects the Blue Jays were asking for in return for Halladay. Most importantly, the Phillies didn’t give up anyone, such as J.A. Happ, contributing in the majors this season.
The Phillies added Lee and Francisco to their big-league roster without trading anyone off that roster. That is why their chances for postseason success received such a big boost from this trade.
Postseason success is what this trade is all about. The Phillies could probably have won the National League East and made the playoffs without acquiring Lee. But the playoffs were a different story.
The importance of having several good pitchers at the top of the rotation is magnified in the playoffs. The rotation is usually reduced to four, and sometimes even three, pitchers. In a five-game series, three or four games will be pitched by your top two pitchers. In a seven-game series, four or five games will be pitched by your top two pitchers.
The Phillies’ rotation is significantly better with Lee inserted alongside Cole Hamels than without him. The top three pitchers now are Hamels, Lee and Joe Blanton. If the Phillies need a fourth starter during the playoffs, they will have a choice between Happ, Jamie Moyer and possibly Pedro Martinez. Without Lee, the top two consists of Hamels and Blanton, with the third pitcher being Happ, Moyer or Martinez.
With no disrespect intended toward the other pitchers in the rotation, the Phillies’ playoff options are a lot better with Lee in the mix.
Lee is just 7-9 this season, but he has had poor run support. That shouldn’t be a problem with the slugging Phillies. Lee’s 3.14 ERA is a much better indication of his performance this season than his record.
So what’s the catch? There has to be a catch, right?
Well, if you’re looking for a black lining in the silver cloud, it’s that Lee gives up a lot of fly balls. That could be a problem in Citizens Bank Park.
A potential long-term problem could be that pitchers Jason Knapp and Carlos Carrasco become stars. Knapp, 18, is 6-foot-5 and throws 98 mph. Carrasco is just 22. Catcher Lou Marson and infielder Jason Donald could also become everyday players with the Indians.
Worrying about potential pitfalls down the road, however, is the old way of thinking. These are the new Phillies. This team tries to win championships. The attitude of the day is optimism, not pessimism.
So we won’t dwell on Halladay getting away. We won’t point out that one year ago Carrasco, Marson and Donald were highly thought of within the organization, just as pitcher Kyle Drabek and outfielders Michael Taylor and Dominic Brown – the minor-league prospects Toronto reportedly wanted, along with Happ, in exchange for Halladay – are today.
All that matters is the Phillies are closer to winning a World Series today than they were before the Lee trade. It’s clear that winning one World Series wasn’t enough for the Phillies. They are willing to do what it takes to win it again.
•••
Excuse me for cutting the Phillies trade column short, but Jim Johnson deserves a mention in this space. Actually, Johnson deserves an entire column dedicated to his accomplishments, but the former Eagles defensive coordinator never did care about being in the spotlight.
Johnson died of melanoma Tuesday at age 68. He leaves an impressive legacy, on and off the field.
Donovan McNabb and Andy Reid may have been the faces of the franchise for the past 10 years, but the heart and soul of the Eagles was their aggressive, hard-hitting defense. The defense connected with the fans. Its nasty, blue-collar style was a perfect match for Philadelphia.
The defensive style was also a recipe for success. We frequently hear that the Eagles have been to five NFC championship games with McNabb as quarterback and Reid as head coach. What we didn’t hear often enough was that the Eagles reached five NFC championship games during Johnson’s decade as their defensive coordinator.
Johnson was as “old school” as it gets, yet he was an innovator with regard to defensive schemes. This old dog was always willing to try new tricks.
Despite his relatively common name, there was only one Jim Johnson.

TOUGH QUESTIONS SWIRL AROUND BIRDS

Filed under: ERIC FISHER — Administrator @ 8:59 am

By ERIC FISHER
By all accounts, the Eagles had a good offseason. Some would even say they had a great offseason.
Will we be able to determine how good the offseason was by following Eagles training camp, which opens Sunday at Lehigh University? No.
Does that mean that training camp is useless in determining the progress made in the offseason? No.
There is still plenty we can learn during this highly anticipated training camp, which runs through Aug. 12, and during the exhibition – excuse me – preseason games that follow.
How healthy is the offensive line?
The Eagles revamped their offensive line during the offseason. Gone is the long-time tackle tandem of Jon Runyan and Tra Thomas. Their replacements are Jason Peters and Stacy Andrews, although Andrews will actually line up at right guard so his younger brother, Shawn, can move from guard to right tackle.
We may not be able to tell how good the offensive line can be, but we should be able to tell if they’re healthy. Stacy Andrews is coming off a serious knee injury. Shawn Andrews missed most of last season with back and mental health issues. If either Andrews brother or Peters miss substantial time due to injuries, or even misses time with nagging minor injuries it would be an ominous sign.
Will the Eagles get a better pass rush from their defensive ends?
Trent Cole would benefit greatly from having a strong pass-rushing defensive end on the left side of the line. The unofficial Eagles depth chart on www.philadelphiaeagles.com lists Juqua Parker as the starting left defensive end, but many people believe third-year lineman Victor Abiamiri will be the starter. Another player to watch is Chris Clemons, a free-agent signee last year who makes an awful lot of money to be a third-string defensive end, which is where he’s listed on the unofficial depth chart.
How much will Jeremy Maclin contribute this season?
Only the most astute observers can judge how well receivers run their routes during training camp. But anyone can judge speed and hands. If Maclin gets open a lot and doesn’t drop passes, that would indicate that the Birds’ first-round draft choice will contribute a lot during his rookie season. If he can’t seem to get open or experiences the dropsies, expect his contributions to be relegated to special teams.
How will Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb react to McNabb’s new contract?
I doubt the new and improved contract will make any difference in McNabb’s level of play. What will be interesting is to see how McNabb’s contract affects Kolb. Barring an injury to McNabb, the starter’s new contract almost guarantees that Kolb, a former second-round pick, will sit on the bench for the next two years. Kolb’s patience certainly will be tested.
Will Ellis Hobbs replace Sheldon Brown as the starting right cornerback?
This should not happen. If it does, however, then it’s a clear sign that the Eagles are sending the unhappy Brown a message. Brown wants to renegotiate his contract, but the Eagles haven’t been overly receptive. Acquiring Hobbs could be interpreted as a message. Giving Hobbs repetitions at starting cornerback couldn’t be interpreted as anything but a message.
Can any of the tight ends block?
Brent Celek is expected to be the starter, following the unlamented departure of L.J. Smith. Celek has terrific hands, but his blocking is suspect. The same goes for draft pick Cornelius Ingram. Matt Schoebel also is not known for his blocking. If either of the offensive tackles struggle, the lack of a blocking tight end will be magnified.
How much difference will having a true fullback make?
Watch for short-yardage situations during preseason. If the Eagles hand the ball to Leonard Weaver or have the tailback follow Weaver through a hole, then it could make a huge difference.
Who will replace Brian Dawkins?
Quintin Demps appears to have the inside track, but the Eagles signed Sean Jones and Rashad Baker during the offseason. Keep an eye on this battle, with Jones likely to make a strong case to start.
Will Brian Westbrook return to his old form?
This is one question that won’t be answered. Westbrook is expected to miss the entire preseason after having surgery on his injured foot in June. The thought of an Eagles offense without Westbrook is scary, which leads us to the next question.
How good is LeSean McCoy?
If Westbrook isn’t ready when the season begins or is forced to participate in a diminished capacity, McCoy will become a key to the Eagles’ fortunes. Watch the second-round draft choice during training camp and preseason to see how quickly he finds the hole and how well he makes receptions coming out of the backfield.
How will Jim Johnson’s absence affect the defense?
This is another question for which we won’t have an answer. Interim defensive coordinator Sean McDermott will handle the X’s and O’s just fine. The question is how well he will adjust and how much confidence he will inspire in the players. Please say a prayer for Johnson in his battle with cancer.

KATE VS. HAILEY: NOT THAT’S A REALITY SHOW

Filed under: MOLLY DAVIS — Administrator @ 8:56 am

By MOLLY DAVIS
Jon is NOT engaged.
At least according to his eye roll and head shake.
When the father of eight was asked if he was getting married to 22-year-old girlfriend Hailey Glassman, that was his reaction.
Either he’s telling the truth, or he’s getting good at evading the paparrazzi’s questions.
I keep flip-flopping between whose side I’m on, and this week the winner is Jon.
Probably because so many are siding with Kate because Jon is not wallowing in a room with the curtains drawn drowning his sorrows over the demise of his marriage.
People reports a source close to Jon said, “Jon was heartbroken, totally heartbroken. Kate told him to take a hike.”
Apparently, Kate told him “it’s over” and he took refuge at the Glassman’s house — and Hailey happened to be visiting her plastic surgeon dad and mom.
The two became close, and a source close to Jon maintains that Jon never cheated on Kate and did not start dating until Kate filed divorce papers.
I’m hoping for a new reality show that pits Hailey against Kate — in the ring.
Kate has those shredded arms and judging from her character, would fight dirty.
Hailey has youth on her side, and looks like she’s kinda tough in her mug shot.
I picture it going something like this:
“In this corner, wearing the red shorts and sporting the cockatoo do, the original octo-mom and reigning roost master Kate Gosselin.”
“And, in this corner wearing the red bikini and challenging Kate for the rights to boss around Jon Gosselin – spoiled little wild child and possible stepmom Hailey Glassman.”
“Let’s get ready to…”
There would be no shortage of viewers — it could be a lucrative pay-per-view event.
Women would watch to see someone finally shut Kate up with a smackdown.
And men would watch, because, well, because it’s two chicks fighting.
To really get the male demographic, just add mud.
Voila… The highest rated TV show of the year.
The problem may be getting Hailey to participate.
Would Kate show?
Absolutely.
As long as she gets a cut of the profits.
It’s for the kids, of course.

OUR VIEW: STOP GOV. ‘SPENDELL’

Filed under: OUR VIEW — Administrator @ 8:50 am

Republican state senators should be applauded for their efforts to restore fiscal sanity to Pennsylvania. They have united in opposition to Gov. Edward Rendell’s proposed personal income tax increase to balance the budget. Instead of backing a tax increase, they are proposing to balance the budget by reducing spending. This approach is what most states, including our own, should be doing.
The senators are against a tax increase because of its effect on the economy during a recession and on the general principle that the people have a right to use their own money as they see fit. The Democrats, including Rendell, are criticizing the Republicans for withholding money from vital state services, including public education. As a result of the budget impasse, state employees have not been paid for their work.
The Democratic argument may appear to make sense at first glance. The Democrats say that if particular state services are needed, they should be funded. If the funding is not there, the Democrats want to raise taxes on residents to obtain the money.
The problem with this argument is that resources are not unlimited. If money is taken from people to pay for government services, the economy suffers because people are not spending this money to buy things, nor are they investing this money to start or expand businesses.
Instead, this money is taken out of the private sector, where it fuels job growth, and is given to the state, which is inefficient and wasteful. People faced with higher taxes will move their businesses to a state with lower taxes, and people are less likely to locate new businesses in a state with higher taxes.
In fact, the argument that raising taxes is necessary to promote social services is counterproductive. With a strong economy, the state needs to provide fewer social services. By taking money out of the private sector, the state is harming the economy and increasing the need for social services. The best way to cure this problem is to keep taxes low to keep Pennsylvania’s economy strong.
Pennsylvania should not end up like California and Massachusetts, which try to provide every social service imaginable. If Pennsylvania follows this route, businesses will leave the state and social problems will get worse, not better. Rendell’s approach of higher spending and higher taxation is based on this model.
Instead, Pennsylvania should follow the lead of the Senate Republicans. Lower taxes and less government spending is better for the economy. When the economy is doing well, social conditions improve. The Senate Republicans must continue to resist Rendell’s attempts to raise taxes.

JON’S GAL PAL IS YOUNGER, WILDER

Filed under: MOLLY DAVIS — Administrator @ 8:21 am

By ASHLEY DOS SANTOS
Apparently Jon Gosselin’s divorce comes with a settlement package of a 22-year-old girlfriend, a trip to Saint-Tropez and an unlimited Ed Hardy wardrobe – all within one month of filing.
And he appears to have a taste for younger women, first with 23-year-old school teacher Deanna Hummel and now with 22-year-old Hailey Glassman, registered party animal. You may be wondering how he met Glassman. Easy: she is the daughter of Kate’s surgeon who performed her tummy tuck surgery back in 2006.
Although Kate has been mum on the subject, reason dictates that it must hurt to hear about Jon’s rebound with a younger woman after only 20 days. While Kate no longer has any control over the way Jon lives his life, she has to be concerned about how this will affect their eight children now and further down the road. Once the kids become Internet-savvy, all they have to do is type “Gosselin” into Google to learn about their father’s recent escapades.
On the other hand, some speculate that Kate may be happy about the tabloid mess Jon has created for himself. The media is giving Kate a much-needed break from scrutiny in order to turn the spotlight even brighter on Jon. Plus, her previous claims that Jon was the more immature one in their relationship seem that much more valid with Jon dating a string of recent college grads.
Jon’s choice of female companion does leave something to be desired. Many of Hailey Glassman’s friends have described her as a devoted partier, with recent pictures of her on Facebook confirming these descriptions.
One shot in particular shows Glassman after she fell head-first onto a potted plant and couldn’t get up – presumably after a long night of drinking. A police mug shot of Glassman also surfaced from a 2005 arrest for marijuana possession while she was an undergrad at Indiana University in Bloomington.
A woman named Joy Lawlor came forward claiming to be Glassman’s ex-girlfriend. She stated that she and Glassman dated for three years while attending Indiana University. Lawlor said the relationship eventually ended because Glassman’s constant partying was too much for her to handle.
In an interview with RadarOnline.com, Lawlor warns Jon about his relationship with Glassman. “You are wasting your time with Hailey. She’ll destroy you,” she said. “The last thing Jon needs to do is stick around with that woman. She will use him to make herself famous and then…leave him for someone else she can profit from.”
What Lawlor didn’t take into consideration is that Jon may be using Glassman just as much as she’s using him. Glassman appears to be an answer to Jon’s premature mid-life crisis all while getting in her 15 minutes of fame.
And it seems that neither Jon nor Glassman will be leaving the headlines anytime soon. Rumors are swirling that he is in talks to create a fashion line with famous designer Christian Audigier. Many of these rumors also claim he will be working side-by-side with Glassman while creating the line, potentially extending her 15 minutes of fame into 30 or more.
But perhaps we should be more concerned about the fame going to Jon’s head and not Glassman’s. Kate’s claims that Jon’s behavior prompted their divorce no longer seem farfetched. Though it takes two to make a marriage, it’s beginning to look like Jon may be to blame for much of the drama surrounding the show and the Gosselins’ personal life.
Beyond Jon, Kate and their plus eight, my main concern is for Ms. Glassman. Considering Jon’s recent track record, it is simply a matter of time before a newer and younger version of Glassman pries her way into Jon’s growing chain of scandalous quickie relationships.
Hailey Glassman – I wouldn’t subscribe to any bridal magazines just yet if I were you.

JON’S DRESSING LIKE A CREEPY LOSER

Filed under: MOLLY DAVIS — Administrator @ 8:20 am

By MOLLY DAVIS
Jon Gosselin is making some strange choices lately.
What concerns me most?
His fashion sense.
It started with the huge diamond studs in his ears.
OK, we’ll let that slide.
But he has gone too far.
I believe a fashion intervention is needed.
Stat.
He is donning the universal uniform of lowlifes.
Ed Hardy.
Nothing screams “I am a hot mess of a train wreck” like a person decked out in head-to-toe Ed Hardy gear.
I am not bedazzled by Christian Audigier’s flamboyant tees, garish sneakers or tacky baseball hats with thousands of rhinestones.
You do not wear Ed Hardy and it’s tasteless, tattoo-based designs if A) You are over 18; B) You are not in a drug rehabilitation program; and C) If you have ANY fashion sense whatsoever.
No excuses.
It is designed by Audigier, who sent Jon some swag and lured the father of eight to his yacht in St. Tropez, with 22-year-old gal pal Halley Glassman, to talk about a business venture.
According to E! Online, Gosselin and Audigier are in talks to launch a children’s fashion line.
Audigier told E! News, “We would like to do a line of children’s clothing.”
Dressing head-to-toe in the designer’s duds looks like it paid off for Jon.
Does that mean if I become a walking advertisement for my favorite couturier I can have my own line?
The world does not need — or want — baby trucker hats or showy onesies.
Jon’s soon-to-be-ex Kate was home in Wernersville picnicking on the front lawn with the kids after her own first class excursion to Hollywood last week.
Now I don’t care who he’s with or that he’s started smoking, which seems to be the focus of most tabloids.
I think he deserves to do whatever he wants, as long as it doesn’t affect his kids.
If he’s happy with his new girlfirend, whose mug shot is posted on RadarOnline, as well as a handful of undated photos showing the 22-year-old Glassman partying with friends and smoking a blunt, more power to him.
The jail bait (in more ways than one) was arrested for marijuana possession, and the case was settled out of court, probably thanks to her dad.
Did I forget to mention who her proud papa is?
None other than Kate’s tummy tucker and plastic surgeon.
Nothing like keeping it in the “family.”
But whatever he does, he shouldn’t do in in Ed Hardy.
Jon, you are not a teenage skate punk.
Or a VH1 reality star.
Leave the Ed Hardy wear to fellow PA native Bret Michaels, because your attire SCREAMS “I am having an early mid-life crisis.”
Just because it’s free, Jon, doesn’t mean it’s good.
And if you continue to sport the white trash threads, please, please do not dress your adorable kids in the same gawdy garments.
I would rather see them in Kate’s Wal-Mart line.
And that’s really saying something.

TERRIFIC TAYLOR TO TACKLE MTV

Filed under: MOLLY DAVIS — Administrator @ 8:19 am

By MOLLY DAVIS
Taylor Swift is all set to take a trip to the moon.
MTV style.
The Wyomissing native has graduated from nominee to performer at this year’s VMA’s — and is poised to perform her hit single “You Belong to Me.”
One tiny step for country crossover, another huge leap for Swift.
She was a red carpet fashion correspondent and was nominated last year for the teen equivalent of the Grammys, but lost out to Tokio Hotel.
The show, which airs on Sept. 13 and will be hosted again by funny man Russell Brand, never disappoints.
And Swift will be doing her part to ensure an amazing show.
“I’m so excited that MTV and the VMAs have invited me to perform, because I think this year’s show will be unlike anything they’ve ever done!” she said of her first appearance on the VMA stage.
“I love incorporating theatrics into my performances, and the VMAs have always allowed artists to run with that,” she said. “MTV has been so good to me. And I could not be more excited about this year’s VMAs.”
If the past year is any indication of what lies ahead for the singer, there will be many coveted moonman statues in her future.
Safe landing, you country cutie.
